常用的意思有三个：

①影响、使产生变化，有时含有“对...产生不利影响”的意思。

Smoking affects your health.吸烟影响你的健康.

②故意假装去感受某件事。

He affected not to hear me.他装作没有听到我的话.

③指对另外一个人感情上的影响，感染，感动；

Some people are affected by music very strongly.音乐对一些人有强烈的感染力。

①通常用作名词，指“结果，后果”的意思。

The medicine has a good effect on him.这种药对他效果不错.

②当用作动词时，指“引起”或者'达成'的意思

He effected great changes in the company.他使公司发生了巨大的变化。

My teacher influenced my decision to study science.

我的老师对我学理科的决定起了影响作用.
